Prism slings are available in a number of materials, each providing various benefits to the service user.
We work in partnership with the University of Salford Manchester, to research the design of slings and the selection of sling materials.
A smooth knitted polyester fabric which is flexible and can stretch providing ease of application as well as added comfort. It allows water to passt through it to drain – making it a suitable material for bathing applications. Slings made from this material include outer leg section of 'slip fit' nylon material with low friction properties, allowing it to be fitted/removed more easily.
Polyester Mesh is combined with a smooth polyester layer and non absorbent padding on the inner leg sections.
Ideal for use in swimming pools and showering whilst the sling is in-situ. Polyester Mesh material is only available on Universal and Deluxe Support Slings.
Slipfit is a nylon material with low friction properties making this ideal for those who require a sling material which enhances the ability to easily fit and remove the sling.
Spacer material is fully breathable and stretches to mould into the shape of wheelchairs. This is the ideal material for clients who wear slings for extended periods. Spacer can also be used for bathing as water drains freely from the material.
Patient Specific slings are manufactured using a non woven polyester material – suitable for short term use only (not suitable for washing)
The use of slings in this material is ideal in order to prevent cross infection or for when a sling is only required for a limited period.
