Prism Medical UK is to be the shirt sponsor of the Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Team the 2016/17 season.
After the Lions successful season last year and their promotion to Division 2, Prism are delighted to continue the shirt sponsorship for another season. The partnership has proved highly successful due to the nature of the solutions offered by both organisations, the mutual growth expected in the next 12 months and the companies’ local proximity to ‘The Lions’ base at the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre in Pinderfields Hospital

The season is already underway and the Yorkshire Lions are hoping to emulate their winning performance and gritty determination of last year.

Commenting on the re-sponsorship, Kevan Baker, Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Team Manager said: “After an excellent first season in the National League the Yorkshire Lions were promoted from Division 3 to Division 2 and this is in part as a result of the wonderful sponsorship they receive from Prism Medical UK. It simply would not have been possible without the support. Now the Lions are ready to take on Division 2 and we are so pleased that Prism Medical UK have agreed to sponsor for a second year and we are proud to be associated with the Company. Thank you Prism for your ongoing support.”

Sean Spencer, Sales Director, Prism Medical UK added: “I am delighted that we were given another opportunity to sponsor the Yorkshire Lions Wheel Chair Rugby Team. This is at the very heart of what we do and we’re proud to continue our support. Their stunning achievements last season were truly deserved. Everyone at Prism Medical UK wishes them well for the season ahead”

The Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Team faced their Second Division 3 Super Series North set of competitive games on the 5th March.

Victory was achieved against the Caledonian Crushers, beating them 73:11, with our very own Neil Foulds bagging over 30 goals.

The Yorkshire Lions fought bravely against the Liverpool Lions, but unfortunately lost the game to the experienced outfit.

The scorelines show that even in the last month the Yorkshire Lions have progressed by ‘pegging back’ Liverpool Lions to a smaller margin and scoring more than last time. The Yorkshire Lions also won against the Caledonian Crushers by a more significant margin.

The Final Super Series Division 3 will take place on the 16-17th March in Stoke-on-Trent.

The North and South pools of Division 3 all come together and all play each other in order to complete the results for Division 3 this year.

Prism Medical UK is to be the shirt sponsor of the Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Team for the 2015/16 season.

The sponsorship will run for the team’s inaugural season, covering all competitive and friendly fixtures in which the club participates. Yorkshire Lions are a newly created team participating in national competitions co-ordinated by Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby.

Wheelchair rugby is a mixed team sport for male and female tetraplegics or anyone with an upper limb impairment. Created by athletes with a disability, the sport has gained popularity over the past three years as a result of the successful 2012 Paralympic Games in London. As one of the only full-contact disability sports, wheelchair rugby soon earned its nickname ‘murderball’ due to the no-holds-barred nature of the game.

The partnership with Prism proves to be a good fit due to the nature of the solutions offered by both organisations, the mutual growth trajectory expected in the next 12 months and the companies’ local proximity to ‘The Lions’ base at the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre in Pinderfields Hospital.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Kevan Baker, Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Team Manager said: “The whole Yorkshire Lions squad are very pleased to have our first sponsor on board. Prism Medical UK has an excellent name and brand and many of our wider spinal injured members use their specialist equipment, so we are rightly proud to be associated with them.  Wheelchair Rugby is not a cheap sport so the sponsorship funding will support the team in their drive for success.”

Greg Smith, Marketing Manager, Prism Medical UK added: “I couldn’t be more delighted that we were given the opportunity to sponsor the Yorkshire Lions. I am amazed by the amount of time, dedication and hard work that goes into giving wheelchair users a fantastic outlet to demonstrate their sporting ability. The costs to run the team are not insignificant and we hope the sponsorship will help to cover a proportion of this outlay.”
